Today, on what would have been her 88th birthday, the Progressive Labour Party honours the life of Mrs Sheila Adele Burrows.
Mrs Burrows is the mother of Tracey Burch-Moore, Trina Burch-Bean, Zakiyah Talib-Bey and Christopher Burrows and grandmother of Algernon (AJ) Jackson, Sabur Burrows, Hakim Bey and Malikah Bey. She dedicated her time and efforts to the upliftment of her fellow Bermudians from all walks of life.
As the supportive wife of the long-service PLP Member of Parliament for Southampton, the late Reginald A. Burrows, JP, the couple mortgaged their home to ensure our party members had a home at Alaska Hall, the headquarters of the Progressive Labour Party.
Earlier this year, Mrs Burrows helped to unveil the Reginald A. Burrows Building as Alaska Hall was renamed in honour of her late husband’s support and commitment to the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party.
On behalf of the Progressive Labour Party Executive, Central Committee, Caucus & members, we pay tribute to Mrs Burrows, affectionately known as Aunt Sheila, for her lifelong dedication to our party and the people of Bermuda.
We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Mrs Sheila Burrows’ family and many friends during their time of bereavement.
