Not so mighty Quinn jailed after found guilty of stealing nearly $500,000

Lawyer Tyrone Quinn was today found guilty by a Supreme Court jury of stealing more than $480,000 from three former clients.

The 12-member, all female panel, convicted the once prominent, respected attorney of committing the offences contained in a three-count indictment between May 14, 2020 and February 28, 2021.

The 37-year-old, who admitted to receiving the money, had used as part of his defence, a story of his having been threatened with harm by two mystery men, involved in an alleged illegal business transaction, with the aforementioned pair demanding he pay them a large sum of cash.

Quinn testified that he had complied with the order, the assertion being that he had paid the pair out of client funds, including those owed to Larry Brangman, Jacqueline Trott and Jenna Riley.

In 2019 Brangman had retained Quinn after he had been wounded during an accident, that resulted in his hip being dislocated along with hs receiving cuts and bruising to his person.

His award from Colonial Insurance, as a result, amounted to $300,000, but he never received payment of the any of the approved settlement. In 2020 Trott similarly settled an injury case for $100,000, after she had suffered damage while employed as a security guard, but was only paid $13,000 by Quinn.

Finally, Riley had been approved funds in the amount of $89,000 by Freisenbruch-Meyer Group, but after not receiving any money from her lawyer and being told by the insurance company that the funds had been disbursed, she reported the situation to police.
Following more than three hours of deliberation the guilty verdict was returned against 37-year-old Quinn, who was remanded into custody by Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe, despite pleas that he be allowed bail in order to sort out personal matters.

Additionally, the judge Wolffe asked that a social inquiry report be prepared ahead of sentencing, with the matter further set down for mention in December.
