Woman arrested for DWI suspicion after leaving the scene of a RTA

Shortly after 5:30 pm on Tuesday, 24th October, 2023, police were dispatched to a report of a serious road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a motorcar near the junction of North Shore Road and Coney Island Road, Hamilton Parish.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that a white Jeep traveling west along North Shore Road when the driver reportedly veered into the path of a motorcycle which was traveling in the opposite direction.

The vehicles collided, with the female motorcycle rider sustaining a serious leg injury after she was ejected from the bike.

The injured female was transported via ambulance to King Edward Hospital where at last check she continued to receive treatment for her injuries.

The driver of the jeep, also a female, left the scene of the collision before the arrival of police or paramedics. She was subsequently arrested at a nearby residence on suspicion of driving while impaired and causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.
