Social Club and Devonshire Colts triumph at The Den

Social Club and Devonshire Colts upset the Premier Division landscape with resounding victories over favoured opponents during a Monday night doubleheader at Devonshire Rec.

*Devonshire Colts 4 Hamilton Parish 1*

The evening’s curtain-raiser saw newly promoted Devonshire Colts put a depleted Hamilton Parish squad to the sword with a 4-1 victory that flattered the latter, who appeared with barely 11 players and no substitutes.
Three unanswered first-half goals from Colts eliminated the match as a contest early.
Chemari Henry tallied twice, scoring Colts’ third and fourth goals, which added to earlier strikes from Teniko Eve and Shannon Burchall.
McQuille Walker scored a consolation strike for Hot Peppers before being sent off for a second yellow card.

*Social Club 3 North Village 1*

Already humbled by their expulsion from the Dudley Eve pre-season tournament, North Village suffered further ignominy as they were ruthlessly dispatched by their unheralded cross-town rivals.

An early, go-ahead strike from midfielder Tiago Correia promised only to deceive, as Bluebirds’ striker Josh Hardtman made an indelible mark, notching his first ever hattrick in senior play.
Social Club and Colts thus joined Dandy Town and PHC as the early pacesetters in the Premier Division, each with three points. Devonshire Cougars and St George’s each have one point, while Paget and Wolves, like Village and Parish , have yet to get off the mark.
