Single vehicle car fire and collision under police investigation

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024, Police and Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcar, just west of the junction of Middle Road and Store Hill, Smith’s Parish.

It has been confirmed the motorcar was travelling east on Middle Road, when the 24-year-old female driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall.

The vehicle overturned and landed on its side before it caught on fire.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle before it became engulfed.

She sustained a minor injury to her arm and was transported by private vehicle to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where she was attended to and discharged.

Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire which left the vehicle a write-off.

There were disruptions to traffic flow while the scene was being processed, with diversions in place at the junction of Middle Road and Hermitage Road, Devonshire, as well as at the junction of Middle Road and Store Hill, Smith’s.

We wish to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while this matter was being dealt with.
