EVolution Motors, Bermuda’s only exclusively electric car dealer, has announced its first Family Day event, taking place on Saturday, 22nd of June, to celebrate the arrival of a new electric car on island.
While electric cars are becoming increasingly popular, many Bermudians still have a lot of questions about the practicality of them. The Family Day will give members of the public an opportunity to see the current crop of electric cars available up close: the new Wuling Binguo, the MG3 Hybrid (E-Class) and the MG ZS EV (H-Class). EVolution Motors’ team of electric vehicle staff will be on hand to answer any and all questions the public may have on the cars and the process of switching from a traditional car.
Those visiting the showroom on Saturday will enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments and be entered into a giveaway. The grand prize is a Horwin EK3 electric scooter, valued at $4,700.
The D-Class Binguo (pronounced ‘bingo’) is a stylish, retro four-door car available in Galaxy Blue, Milk Tea and Mousse Green, retailing from $29,985. Fitted with all of the modern conveniences that car owners want to see, the Bingo features ABS, a rear parking sensor and camera, an LED control centre and an enormous 790L storage capacity. With easy home charging – installation of a charging station at home is included in the purchase of any EVolution Motors vehicle – the Binguo has a range of up to 335km, more than enough for Bermuda’s 21km.
Wuling may be an unfamiliar name to many Bermudians but the brand has been producing electric cars in conjunction with General Motors and MG for more than ten years. In addition to traditional loans, buyers of electric vehicles may be able to take advantage of ‘green loans’ from local banks.
During the company’s recent visit to China, where they visited soth MG and Wuling, EVolution Motors attended the Beijing Auto Exposition where President and CEO, Andre Labonte was interviewed by China Central Television. He was asked about potential business ramifications from the current political climate and the effect that has had on Western countries’ business dealing with China.
CEO and President of EVolution Motors, Andre Labonte, said: ‘We are delighted to be hosting our first Family Day at EVolution Motors and are looking forward to showing off the new fleet of electric vehicles available in Bermuda. We encourage families to come and be surprised by the size and suitability of them as a potential family car.
‘Bermuda is a perfect place to have an electric car: it’s almost impossible to run out of charge, the cost of running one is around a third of the total running cost of a traditional car and they make a huge difference towards helping to keep Bermuda’s environment as beautiful as we want it to be.’
The Family Day will run from 10am until 5pm on Saturday, 22nd of June at the EVolution Motors showroom in Washington Mall. The Wuling Binguo will be on display outside of the Church Street entrance of the mall until
