Woman who Assaulted Minor Sentenced in Magistrate’s Court this Morning

A woman who pleaded guilty to assaulting a minor in September of 2019 was sentenced in Magistrate’s Court on Monday, May 3.

“ In light of [the given circumstances], a conditional discharge is certainly a positive outcome,” the defendant’s attorney Marc Daniels told Magistrate Tyrone Chin. “I have no doubt that the defendant will be able to manage whatever period of time that you might impose as being suitable and they will not come back before the court.”

The defendant herself told Magistrate Chin that she is truly sorry for her actions and that it will not happen again.

Magistrate Chin granted her conditional discharge on the conditions that she refrain from alcohol and illicit substances, that she submit to random urine analysis at Court Services’ discretion and undergo assessment to assess her need for anger management or any other type of counselling.
