(Hamilton, Bermuda)— A grieving family, still mourning the loss of young Taz Boyles, has been dealt another devastating blow. Just days after commemorating the third anniversary of Taz’s tragic passing and celebrating what would have been his fourth birthday on March 15th, they discovered that his memorial site—a place of deep sentiment and remembrance—had been stripped bare in an act of disturbing disregard.
Taz’s family and loved ones have faithfully maintained the site where the accident occurred, placing balloons, teddy bears, and other keepsakes to honor his memory. Over the years, the spot has become more than just a tribute—it has offered comfort not only to Taz’s family but to others grieving their own losses. Many have shared how seeing the balloons or teddy bears at the site gave them a sense of peace, a sign that their loved ones were still with them in spirit.
But on a recent evening, that peace was shattered.
A Shocking Discovery
Taz’s godmother was on a routine drive to the shop when she noticed a woman standing near the memorial, staring at the display. At first, she assumed the woman was simply admiring the tribute. However, she soon realized that some balloons were missing. Still, she thought little of it, assuming Taz’s mother or another family member had tidied the space, as they often did.
However, when she passed by again just 20 minutes later, everything was gone.
The teddy bear that had withstood hurricanes, storms, and years of time—vanished. The sentimental balloons handpicked by his mother, father, grandmother, sister, and godmother—gone. The only things left were an anchor gifted to the family and a single balloon placed when Taz’s baby brother was born.
“Everything was completely removed,” she said, still shaken by the discovery.
A Pattern of Disrespect
This is not the first time Taz’s memorial has been tampered with. Months earlier, a red toy truck placed at the site was stolen after a passerby saw a man and a child near the area. But despite her own heartbreak, Taz’s mother responded with grace, saying, “Maybe that little boy needed it more.”
However, this time, the family is devastated. The teddy bear that was taken held deep sentimental value—it was not just any stuffed animal but a symbol of their undying love for Taz.
A Plea for Compassion
Taz’s mother, father, and sisters are heartbroken. The family cannot understand why someone would intentionally go out of their way to remove such deeply meaningful items.
“It takes so much for us to visit that spot,” the godmother explained, her voice heavy with emotion. “It’s not easy to go there, to put these things up. And for it to be taken—it’s very, very hard.”
Now, they are making a heartfelt plea:
“If you don’t return anything else, please bring back the teddy bear. Just put it back. No one needs to know who you are. Just please, for the sake of his mother, his father, his sisters, and his whole family—please put the teddy bear back and leave the spot alone.”
A Final Warning
While the family hopes for a quiet resolution, they have made it clear that the area is under surveillance. Security and red-tie cameras are installed in the vicinity, and should the person responsible fail to return the items, the footage may be reviewed to identify them.
For now, the family waits, holding on to hope that whoever took the items will do the right thing. Because to them, this is more than just a collection of objects—it is a sacred space, a tangible connection to the little boy they lost, and a place where his memory can live on.
And for Taz’s loved ones, that means everything.
