Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, police attended a single vehicle collision involving a motorcar, near the junction of Middle Road and Granaway Lane, Southampton.
The female driver of the motorcar was reportedly traveling in a westerly direction along middle road, when she attempted to negotiate a right hand bend on the roadway.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a nearby wall. The vehicle overturned in the collision and the driver sustained what were thought to be serious injuries as she was in and out of consciousness.
She was taken via ambulance to King Edward Hospital for further treatment for her injuries, which were determined to be not as significant as first thought and discharged.
She was subsequently arrested and bailed on suspicion of impaired driving.
There were major delays as a result of the collision with traffic having to be diverted onto the railway trail.
