As reported by TNN a few weeks ago regarding Purvis Primary School is not prepared to accept students to commence the new school year.
Despite insistent assurances to the contrary from the Ministry of Education, the very scenario presented by this publication came to pass this morning, with arriving students being bused away from the school for purported ‘field trips’ in lieu of classroom study much to the horror of parents.
Many parents were left seething in their anger, after discovering they had been provided a false narrative of hope and that these, literal ‘field trips’ would be the order for their children for several days.
“The sad part about this is that we didn’t know about it,” said one parent, echoing the sentiment of many.
TNN has been made to understand that these field trips will act as a ‘bridge’ to cover ongoing renovations Warwick institution, which present obvious safety concerns.
As such the students are to spend time at various locations off site, including the Botanical Gardens, Spittal Pond and other, so-called, “educational locations”.
The field trips will involve the entire school body of 100-plus students – and presumably teachers – from P1 to P6.
Island Express is the mini bus company that has been, reportedly, contracted to transport students on these excursions.
TNN is awaiting updates from the Ministry of Education and/or its leader, Minister Diallo Rabain, regarding this situation, as it is apparent that the department may not have truthfully updated the parents or public in advance of this development.
As noted TNN broke the story offering news of the potential scenario, that Purvis was in jeopardy of not being able to meet today’s September 11, opening deadline.
