Property Dispute Delay Road Works Completion, New Traffic Advisory In Place

Word coming to TNN suggesting a dispute between a property owner and roadworks on Harbor Road just east of Lower Ferry has caused a major disruption in regards to the work being done between Works and Engineering and the property owner.

TNN also understands that a Civil court matter is in the works. Because of the aforementioned dispute, the works cannot be completed.

Acting Minister of Public Works the Honorable Wayne Furbert issued a statement to assist the motoring public on traffic flow mornings and evenings, which result in one-way traffic coming into the city of Hamilton from 7 to 10 am and one-way traffic coming out of the city from 3 to 6 p.m. More in this report below.

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the public that changes in the normal daily rush hour traffic flow will be implemented on Harbour road to improve traffic flow around the wall repairs near Lover’s Lane.

Starting Wednesday November 17th, 2021, from the hours of 7:00am to 10:00am – Harbour Road between Highwood Lane and Lover’s Lane will be open for eastbound traffic only. All westbound traffic during that time will be rerouted to Middle Road via Lover’s Lane.

Starting Wednesday November 17th, 2021, from the hours of 3:00pm to 6:00pm – Harbour Road between Chapel Road and Lover’s Lane will be open for westbound traffic only. All eastbound traffic during that time will be rerouted to Middle Road via Chapel Road.

The public is advised to take note of this traffic flow change on Harbour Road and to plan using alternative route listed during the specified timeframes.

Traffic controls will be under direction of the Ministry of Public Works representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals & signage.

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.
