PLP Announces Justin Jones as Keynote Speaker for 60th Anniversary Gala

The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party is excited to announce American
political activist and Tennessee State Representative Mr. Justin Jones as our
keynote speaker for the 60th Anniversary Gala to be held on Saturday,
November 18, 2023.

Representative Jones was elected in 2022 as the Democratic Member of the
Tennessee House of Representatives for the 52nd District. At 28 years old,
he is the second youngest member of the State House.

Justin Jones rose to prominence after he and another representative were expelled from Tennessee House
after leading protests on gun control reform and joining protests in the chamber’s public galleries while
the House was in session. Dubbed by his supporters as one of the “Tennesse Three” Jones was reinstated by the Nashville Metro Council on April 10, 2023 to the Tennessee House after the unprecedented expulsions gained national attention.

The son of a Filipina mother and an African-American father, Mr. Jones was born in Oakland, California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Fisk University, a historically black university in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bermudians can expect a captivating and timely address from Mr. Jones. Additionally, the PLP’s Class of
1998 will be honoured as the party remembers the election of the first PLP Government 25 years ago.

The PLP’s 60th Anniversary Gala will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and tickets are available through, via contacting PLP Headquarters at 292-2264, or visiting the Reginald A. Burrows Building on Court Street, Hamilton.

We look forward to your fellowship and community as the Progressive Labour Party gathers to celebrate 60 years.
