More departures expected at the BTA

The departure of Wayne Caines as Chairman of the Board if the Bermuda Tourism Authority has led to speculation as to how much longer Tracy Berkeley will remain Chief Executive Officer of the organisation.

This speculation further heightened d by the impending departure of Mr. Joseph Best, whose tenure as BTA Deputy Chair is set to expire at the end of this month with the tenure of another Board member, believed to be Jennifer Philips, in reportedly set to end in May.

Ms. Berkeley was appointed CEO in 2023 having first joined the BTA in 2020. Before her appointment as CEO, she served as the BTA’s Chief Administrative Officer. During her time at the helm, several staff, as first reported by TNN, resigned. Many citing a hostile and toxic working environment.

The most high profile being Hazel Clark, the BTA’s director of global business development and partnerships. The departures we understand, continue despite a culture review of the embattled organisation.

Ms. Berkeley, you may remember succeeded Charles Jeffers, who quit as CEO after less than a year in the job. The reasons for his sudden departure were never explained  but it is believed he did not see eye to eye with Mr. Caines over certain appointments to the BTA.
