Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Friday August 4th 2023, police and other first responders were dispatched to Shelly Bay Beach, Hamilton Parish following reports that a male had been pulled out of the water.
Reports are the man was standing in waist deep water when he appeared to have suffered a medical episode and went under water before he was pulled out by nearby indiduals who began CPR until the arrival of EMTs who took over.
The 73-year-old victim was subsequently transported by ambulance to King Edward Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Next of kin have been informed.
Foul play is not suspected.
