Government’s DCI Respond To Craig Cannonier NSC Allegations

The Government for a response to the statement given by Craig Cannonier One Bermuda Alliance (OBA) Opposition member of parliament.

The facts remain the same: the loan was approved by the trustees of the National Sports Centre in their May meeting. As was stated in the House of Assembly, the contract doesn’t contain a $12,000 monthly payment to any individual or company, so the false accusation of the Opposition MP is just that, false.

The documents that were released to the media alleging to be on behalf of the board were not signed off by any trustee. Since the incident, one trustee resigned and the remaining trustees do not associate themselves with the letter or the allegations.

The financing for the project was approved by the Minister of Finance and the project is an investment to eliminate the $600,000 annual BELCO bill.
