Former PLP senator charged with killing Marco Warren

Former Progressive Labour Party [PLP] Senator Curtis Richardson appeared in Magistrates Court this morning, charged with causing the death of prominent footballer Marco Warren on Sunday, May 14th, Mothers Day, 2023.

Mr. Warren was allegedly struck by a motor vehicle near Trinity Church Road in Hamilton Parish, as he made his way home. The driver of the the vehicle left the scene.

With the charge being indictable, Mr. Richardson was not required to enter a plea and the case set down for mention at the December monthly arraignment session, when he has been ordered to reappear.

The former government Senator who turned himself in earlier this week, was charged with causing death by driving without due care and attention.

Richardson, who was appointed to the Upper House by Premier David Burt in November 2020 and given the roles of Junior Transport and Junior National Security Minister, was represented by lawyer Victoria Greening  while Carrington Mahoney appeared for the Crown in front of Senior Magistrate Maxanne Annerson.

Bail was granted to the defendant in the amount of $25 thousand dollars, with a like surety in the same amount.

In addition Richardson was ordered to attend Hamilton Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm and to surrender all travel documents.
