Foreign National face firearm, ammunition and drugs charges in Magistrate Court today

Appearing today in Magistrates’ Court session, a 58-year-old man, Jose Humberto Alvarez Tostado Puga, to face three indictable offences.

The charges against the California resident are as follows:
Between an unspecified date and November 14, 2023, Alvarez Tostado Puga, along with others, allegedly conspired to import prohibited firearms into Bermuda.

In the same timeframe, Alvarez Tostado Puga is also accused of conspiring with others to import ammunition into Bermuda without the requisite valid license.

Lastly, Alvarez Tostado Puga faces a charge for allegedly conspiring to import controlled drugs into Bermuda between an unknown date and December 2, 2023.

The man was not required to enter a plea to the indictable offenses. Magistrate Craig Attridge remanded him into custody at Westgate Correctional Facility until the September 3, 2024 monthly arraignment session.
