Drug Overdose for Inmate at Westgate Correctional Facility

TNN News has received word from a reliable regarding a near-overdose incident involving what is understood to be fentanyl, which occurred on Thursday, August 1st, the first day of Cup Match. The individual affected by this apparent overdose is reportedly serving a lengthy sentence and has a history of similar incidents.

Our sources indicate that the inmate in question is housed in the segregation unit, specifically the administrative segregation unit, which typically restricts contact with other inmates. However, this individual is a skilled worker and is occasionally required to fix specific equipment within the prison.

In light of these circumstances, we reached out to the Ministry of National Security for confirmation and further details. This is the response from the Ministry:

“The Department of Corrections can confirm that an inmate is currently receiving medical treatment at KEMH. For confidentiality and security reasons, no further comment will be made on this matter.”

The presence of fentanyl within the correctional facility and the recurrence of such incidents raise serious concerns about the safety and security protocols in place. The community and the families of inmates have a right to know how such dangerous substances are entering the facility and what measures are being taken to prevent future occurrences.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.
