BUTTERFIELD DONATES $25,000 TO SUPPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited (“Butterfield”) (NYSE: NTB|BSX: NTB.BH) has purchased $25,000 worth of school supplies for Bermuda’s public primary schools through local organisation Support Public Schools (“SPS”) Bermuda as part of its latest community campaign.

SPS aims to help provide Bermuda’s public school students with the equipment and supplies they need for a better quality education by connecting donors and teachers. Through SPS, public school teachers submit “wish lists” of items that will help improve students’ learning and development experiences. Donors select items they wish to contribute to a school of their choice and pay for them at discount prices from the website SPS.bm. Orders are filled and delivered to the schools free of charge by local vendors, A.F. Smith and Phoenix Stores Ltd., along with the SPS team.

Butterfield’s $25,000 donation went towards supplies for all 18 of Bermuda’s public primary schools. The supplies include art, literacy, music and science materials, and these will be delivered on 18 and 19 January with COVID-19 safety protocols in place.

Michael Neff, Butterfield’s Managing Director in Bermuda said, “Investing in education and empowering Bermuda’s students to achieve their aspirations is something Butterfield is committed to doing. The next generation are tomorrow’s leaders, and we are proud to have been able to directly contribute resources and support teachers’ needs. We have worked with the team at Support Public Schools since it started in 2018 and encourage others, whether they are corporate or individual donors, to be involved.”

Juliana Snelling, Founder of SPS Bermuda, said, “I would like to express my sincere and immense gratitude to our most generous supporter every year, Butterfield. Passionately dedicated to the cause of public school education, Butterfield has purchased $25,000 worth of school supplies each year for the past three years to support our efforts to enrich the learning experience of our public school students. Butterfield has done so in the stated hope and intent of encouraging other organisations and individuals to give, with a view to giving public schools the resources and opportunities that they need and deserve to make a positive difference in the quality of education of the future leaders of this country. Thank you, Butterfield!”
