Approaching for Molecular Diagnostics Lab Summer Volunteer Program 2021

The Bermuda Government’s Molecular Diagnostics Lab (MDL) is reminding interested parents and young people that the deadline to apply for its Summer Volunteer programme is fast approaching.

The MDL is currently accepting applications for its Summer Student Volunteer Programme, which will run from July 4, through Saturday, September 4, 2021.

They are seeking young persons interested in the sciences and who are looking to gain first-hand experience working in a laboratory environment. The deadline for applications is June 27.

The Bermuda Government Molecular Diagnostics Lab is the primary laboratory for the testing of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease) in Bermuda.

Students will spend a total of two (2) weeks working alongside our current staff members.

In addition to learning about the administrative functions of the lab and the beginning-to-end schematics of testing a specimen, students will also have a chance to explore the ideologies surrounding this pandemic.

Interested students must submit the following to jtbascome@gov.bm:

A one-page essay – double-spaced, size 12, Times New Roman.  Including:

o   What are your career aspirations?

o   What have you learned during the Covid-19 pandemic?

o   What do you expect to gain from volunteering at MDL?
