21 year old foreign nationals charged with theft and fraud in Magistrate Court

A 21 year old foreign national with a Portuguese translator appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with seven (7) offences related to theft and fraud.

Luca Gabriel Bessa Banderia, the Brazil resident, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable offenses.

Senior crown consul Carrington Mahoney stated  Banderia allegedly had in his possession criminal property, namely, $66,080.00 stolen cash belonging to HSBC Bermuda Limited when arrested by police.

The court also heard on or around the 24th day of June 2024, in Paget parish, had in your custody or under your control, machines, namely three card readers/writers which, to your knowledge, had been specially designed or adapted for the making of false credit and or debit cards, with the intention that you or another would make such use of credit and debit cards and that you or another would use those instruments to induce somebody to accept them as genuine, and by reason of so accepting them to do or not to do some act to his own or another’s prejudice.

Luca Banderia was released from police custody in early July and allegedly committed two further offenses, as he was arrested a second time, the man address was identified as Salvation Army homeless shelter on Parson Road.

Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson remanded the foreign national into custody namely the Westgate Correctional Facility as he will reappear during the September Supreme Court Monthly Arraignment session.
