Last week, the Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy (DMBHA) hosted community members at a special event entitled 13 Men on Campus.
The school administration invited Pastor Eversley Lewis; PC Corville Hylton; Omari Dill; Dale Jackson; Jevon Roberts; Kenji Bean; Jaimie Schmere; Quennel Robinson; Harold Minors; Dr. Leonard Astwood; Jaimie Schmere; Michael Simmons and the Hon. Diallo Rabain.
Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, said, “I was pleased to join men from our community at Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy. It is always a joy to interact with students and staff. I commend the school administrators for organising this event to raise community awareness and foster a greater understanding of students and their school environment. I am grateful to the 13 men who were role models for the students. It was a morning filled with fun activities and an opportunity to understand better the invaluable service this school provides.”
DMBHA organised the event to mark Intellectual & Developmental Disability Awareness Month and to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life, as well as an understanding of the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live.
