Zane Desilva Faces Money Laundering Charges in Magistrate Court

MP Zane Desilva faces yet another legal battle as the Parliamentarian was this morning in Magistrates’ Court,  charged offences contrary to section 40 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 1997. Namely money laundering.
Mr. Desilva was not required to enter a plea to the indictable offence.
DPP Cindy Clarke read out the charges that between April 1st, 2018 and August, 27th, 2018 the accused became concerned in an arrangement which he knew or suspected facilitated the use of criminal property by or on behalf of William Anthony Blakeney.
This in relation to allegations that Mr. Blakeney was involved in the disappearance of $800 thousand meant for the setting up of a recording studio.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Mr. Blakeney of Savvy Entertainment,  after he failed to appear in Magistrate Court this morning.
Bail was set for Mr. Desilva at $10.000 dollars. The matter was set down for the monthly arraignment session on February 1st 2023.
