A mother who wishes to remain anonymous, is extremely frustrated as her son was waiting for her to pick him up from Snorkel Park on Saturday night, at a near by bus and taxi stand after a pre-arranged taxi did not show
up.
While he was waiting for his mother, two men approached him and asked him what part of the island he was from.
According to the mother, once her son answered from Pembroke, the two men punched him in the face and snatched his gold chain and took off in a car.
“ My child is not in a gang and has never gotten into a fight in his life,” she said. “ Why does a mother have to be overprotective about what is going on?
I am frightened for my child and want
him to leave this island immediately.” Out of fear of being targeted and assaulted again, neither the mother nor her son have spoken to authorities about the incident.
The mother suggests that the people who commit these acts be sent to a real jail in a country like Jamaica and not to Westgate, because all of their friends are there.
“ It costs the community and tax payers more to houses these Inmates than people who are working, as it costs around $80 thousand for housing at West Gate,” she said. “ No one will speak up, because everyone is in fear, so get these thugs out of here.”
