Women’s Resource Centre and Center Against Abuse, Sadden Over 28 Year Old Women’s Death

Waking up to the tragic news that a young woman has lost her life to a domestic incident is extremely gut wrenching.

On behalf of the Women’s Resource Centre, we send our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends during this very difficult time. This should not happen. When ready, we further wish to extend our support services to the family.

The Women’s Resource Centre continues to support women and families facing life’s challenges by providing confidential counseling, training and education and appropriate referrals. In 2022, we will be re-activating our domestic violence and grief support groups as well as other community supportive services.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing the ill effects of abuse or have witnessed a domestic incident and would like to work through it, kindly contact us 295-3882 or Email: wrc@wrcbermuda.com Tina Laws

The Centre Against Abuse (CAA) extends sincere condolences to the young woman’s family who tragically lost her life yesterday.

Executive Director of the Centre, Laurie Shiell Smith, said, “We were heartbroken when we read the news reports. CAA is reaching out to the public as a reminder that we are here to assist adult victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Our 24-hour hotline operates seven days a week, and we offer assistance with protection orders, safe housing, court advocacy and counselling.

“As victims/survivors have had their power taken away, loved ones can assist them with gaining control over their lives by providing the contact details to CAA, and be with them as they make the phone call seeking assistance. This is often the first step a person makes on their own to pursue professional help. Our counsellors are here to help and offer direct assistance by calling the CAA hotline at 297-8278 or via email on info@centreagainstabuse.bm. We encourage the community to view our website www.centreagainstabuse.bm which provides helpful information and resources.Laurie Shiell
