Windreach Bermuda last Sunday celebrated its 25th anniversary with its 19th annual Walk and Roll inclusive event.
In excess of 300 people registered for the event which was blessed with pleasant conditions as participants walked either a three or five kilometre course to help raise funds for the charity which offers a variety of therapeutic and educational experiences for people with varying physical and intellectual abilities.
Among those gathered were Ms. Lavita Foggo MP, and her family who walked with their loved one Eshan Smith Perinchief.
Eshan has cerebral palsy. Ms. Foggo told TNN, “Eshan is such a gift to us. He has taught us to appreciate and see things from a completely different lens. As a result of that, our family’s awareness has grown tremendously and we now recognise and see the importance of ensuring that we support events such as this.”
Ms. Foggo and her relatives wore t-shirts withe the letter “E” and words of empowerment that begin with that letter, in support of Eshan.
According to her, “These words and slogans like Empowering Others, Enhanced Acceptance, Encouraging Inclusivity hopefully sent a message that would be received by other participants through their involvement.”
Ms. Foggo urged that the community continues to support Windreach and the programmes offered by the charity. She expressed her heartfelt thanks for the opportunities provided to seven year old Eshan form which she said he continues to benefit and most importantly, enjoys.
