Warwick Man appeared in Supreme Court on Attempted Murder and Firearms Charges

A Warwick man, JohnStephen Glasgow, appeared in the Supreme Court today to face serious charges, including attempted murder, during a brief arraignment before Supreme Court Justice Allan Richards.

Glasgow pleaded not guilty to three indictable offenses: attempted murder, using a firearm to commit an indictable offense, and possession of a prohibited weapon. These charges stem from an incident that occurred on or around September 24th in Warwick Parish, where Glasgow is alleged to have attempted to unlawfully cause the death of another man.

According to court documents, the weapon in question was identified as a Ruger P-95 handgun, a prohibited firearm due to its barrel being less than 22 inches in length. The Crown alleges that Glasgow committed attempted murder with the said weapon, a charge he firmly denied in court.

Represented by defense attorney Victoria Greening, Glasgow made a rare appearance in Supreme Court for mention. During the proceedings, Ms. Greening submitted an application for bail on his behalf. However, Crown Counsel Mr. Nelson opposed the application, highlighting key evidence discovered during the investigation.

The prosecution revealed that the firearm was located in the basement of the home Glasgow shares with his grandmother. Additionally, articles of clothing seized from the property were said to have tested positive for gunshot residue (GSR), and gloves found at the residence reportedly contained two components consistent with (GSR) residue.

Justice Richard’s did not make an immediate ruling on the bail application, and Glasgow was remanded into custody pending further proceedings. It remains unclear whether bail will be granted, as the matter continues to unfold.
