A 56-year-old man from Warwick appeared in Magistrates’ Court today facing two sexual offence charges involving a girl under the age of 14.
Due to legal restrictions, the defendant cannot be named. He elected for his case to be heard in Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The first charge alleges that the accused touched the young female with his finger on her private part, while the second charge alleges that he touched her with his mouth in the same area.
Magistrate’s Craig Attridge has scheduled the next hearing for June 23 at 9:30 a.m.
The defendant was released on $10,000 bail with a surety and must report to the Hamilton Police Station on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. He has also been ordered to have no contact with the complainant.
