Vision Bermuda opened its doors today for the organization’s Open House and our first ever Raffle Draw, welcoming the community to learn more about their programs and services. The event featured an opportunity to connect with staff, supporters, and community members, as well as a raffle draw supported by generous sponsors.
Executive Director, Erica Ingemann, who has been in her role since May, described the experience of leading Vision Bermuda as both exciting and rewarding.
“It’s the steepest learning curve I’ve ever been on in my life,” she said. “But it’s a positive growing experience, and I’m really enjoying it.”
The Open House and raffle were well received.
“It went really well. We had a good turnout, strong participation, and amazing support with raffle tickets, especially for our first time,” said Ingemann. “This gives us confidence that we can go a little bigger next year.”
Sponsors for the raffle included Hamilton Princess, Grotto Bay, Sonoma Candle, Cut2Fit, Fajr Forever, C&R Detailing, MadHatters, Flanagan’s, Inclusive Identity, Auto Solutions, TNN, BZ Limited, and Bermuda Motors, among others.
Looking ahead, Vision Bermuda will continue raising awareness with our community wide fundraising Funky Frame Friday, a fun community fundraiser that encourages people to wear unique glasses, shades, or frames to show their support for vision health.
“We want everyone—individuals, schools, small corporations—to participate and spread the word,” explained Ingermann. “It’s about keeping eye health a priority from childhood through adulthood. Donations are welcome, but not required—we don’t want finances to be a barrier.”
In addition to community events, Vision Bermuda offers a variety of programs at its facility. These include:
- Chair exercise classes
- Touch-to-type classes for those with visual impairments
- Cooking classes
- Games afternoons
- Monthly meetings with guest speakers
- A monthly radio show led by their Vision Rehab specialist
Vision Bermuda also hosts a Walking Club at the National Stadium, open to members and the wider community, providing both exercise and support for participants.
