The Bermuda Blood Donor Centre is calling for donors with O positive blood to come and donate ahead of Christmas due to a critical shortage. The Blood Donor Centre will remain open late, until 6pm tonight and will be open for normal hours tomorrow (Christmas Eve).
Chief of Pathology Dr Eyitayo Fakunle comments: ” We are losing two donation days this week due to Christmas and Boxing Day, and one next week for New Year’s. To ensure we have adequate supplies, we are asking people to come and donate today and tomorrow.
There can be unplanned medical reasons that supplies can run low, but in this week, we are susceptible to smaller unplanned usage as the amount of donation days is down and generally people are busy so it’s harder to get donors in. Please help us keep saving lives over the holiday season.
If you know you are O positive please call 236-5067 or WhatsApp 533-9553, or you can just walk in. If you want to help but haven’t donated before, we still welcome you.”
