Unleashed Set to Bring Freestyle Motocross Spectacle to Southampton Rangers

The countdown is on for what organizers say will be one of the most exciting motocross spectacles Bermuda has seen in nearly two decades.

Tomorrow, September 5th, Southampton Rangers Sports Club will come alive as Jump Start MX and Give Back present International Riders Unleashed — an action-packed event featuring international professional freestyle motocross riders, electric bike racing, stunts, jumps and plenty of thrills for spectators of all ages.

TNN News spoke with organizers Dillon Corea  of the Small Barricade Racing/MX Unleashed team and Jonah Smith, who say months of planning, significant financial investment and plenty of late nights have gone into putting the event together.

Corea says the atmosphere is expected to be filled with excitement, fun and what he described as “good vibes,” with a strong team behind the production.

“We ain’t done something like this in Bermuda for like 20 years,” Corea said, adding that spectators have plenty to look forward to.

And the international riders are expected to be a major attraction.

According to Corea, professional riders will be travelling to Bermuda, including a rider known as Levo, who has come from the United States and has been riding alongside a familiar name in the motocross world — Aiden Deegan’s younger brother.

Organizers say the visiting riders specialize in freestyle motocross, performing high-level stunts and tricks that are rarely seen in Bermuda.

Smith says the event is designed to appeal to virtually everyone.

“I feel like it will speak to all age brackets, from the youngest person all the way up to the oldest person. You can find some sort of excitement and thrill in watching what we’re going to put on.”

The event is not being billed as a traditional motocross race.

Instead, the spotlight will be on freestyle MX, with riders performing aerial maneuvers including backflips, tail whips and other tricks.

A massive ramp measuring approximately 69 feet has been constructed for the riders, setting the stage for what organizers promise will be an impressive display.

Corea explained that while there will be some racing, including an electric-bike competition, the main attraction will be the freestyle performances.

The day’s schedule will also include King of the Corner, an electric Sur-Ron race and a 50cc race before the main freestyle motocross event.

Gates open at 3 p.m., with the event beginning at 4 p.m.

The main event is expected to get underway at approximately 8 p.m.

General admission is $50, with spectators positioned on the field downstairs at Southampton Rangers Club. VIP admission is $150, providing access to the upstairs area of the club.

With the final preparations underway and international riders arriving in Bermuda, organizers say they are ready to deliver something the island has not experienced in years.

For those looking for an evening of high-flying motocross action, organizers have one simple message:

Get there early — because this is one event you do not want to miss.

Beyond the excitement and spectacle, organizers say the event also carries a deeper and more personal meaning. They are dedicating the event in memory of a late friend, affectionately known as Pudgy, who they say wanted to see an event happen.

Organizers say they are now helping to bring that vision to life for Pudgy’s children and are determined to see it through in his honor.

“This is for his kids basically, trying to do this thing because he wanted to see this happen. So we’re seeing it through for him and his kids,” one organizer said.

They also took the opportunity to recognize those supporting the event, giving a special shout-out to B71 and ODN, while remembering Pudgy and honoring his legacy.

Big Energy, Big Respect — and RIP Pudgy.
