Unity in the Community is set to host its annual hamper drive tomorrow, Monday December 23, at Sandys Secondary Middle School. The event will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, though organizers are prepared to extend the drive as long as needed to support the community.
Speaking to TNN, Terica Dillas, organizer of the event, shared the goal of the campaign:
“The purpose is to give back to the community and support those who may not be as fortunate. Christmas can be a stressful time, and we want to lend a helping hand to those in need.”
Unity in the Community has a system in place to ensure those who require assistance receive it. A list of individuals who have already requested hampers has been prepared, and some hampers will be delivered directly to those unable to attend. Ms. Dillas emphasized the importance of reaching out to those who may feel uncomfortable asking for help:
“It’s not always easy to ask for help. Sometimes people feel shy or prideful, but we’re here to support them.”
Residents in need are welcome to stop by the event or contact Unity in the Community to arrange a delivery.
This act of generosity embodies the spirit of the season, reminding us all of the importance of unity and care for one another.
