To celebrate Black History Month, the U.S. Consulate and Bermuda National Library will host a free movie screening of “Just Mercy,” a story of justice and redemption based on a memoir by American Attorney Bryan Stevenson on Wednesday, February 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the National Library on Queen Street in Hamilton.
The film explores a history-making battle for justice which launched Stevenson’s career in defending disadvantaged clients. In the film, Michael B. Jordan plays attorney Stevenson, who travels to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper legal representation. With the help of a local advocate, Stevenson helps Walter McMillian, played by Jamie Foxx, who had been wrongfully convicted of murder. The event is free with limited space available.
