A road-traffic accident occurred on Middle Road in Warwick involving a private car and an auxiliary cycle.
The rider of the motorcycle was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) via ambulance for treatment.
TNN’s Trevor Lindsay spoke with the female driver of the car, who provided a statement regarding the incident.
I was involved in an unfortunate accident while attempting to turn up Cedar Hill on Middle Road, Warwick. A young man, who I later found out had just turned 16, collided with my vehicle on the driver’s side after coming up from behind my car.
He appeared to have been traveling at a high speed and lost control, landing in the brush near the bus stop outside the hub after the impact.
Upon reaching him after the crash, he was unconscious. Emergency responders worked on him at the scene and were able to bring him around for a short while. We are now awaiting further updates on his condition.
As of the last report, he was in serious condition, possibly suffering from head injuries.
It’s important to note that at the time of the accident, the roads were not wet, though it started raining shortly after. The boy was going much too fast for the conditions, and I later learned from a family member that he had borrowed the bike from a friend, at school.
We are continuing to monitor his condition, and our thoughts are with him and his family during this difficult time.
