Two Canadian nationals were remanded in custody yesterday after appearing in Magistrates’ Court in connection with an alleged importation of diamorphine into Bermuda.
60-year-old Laura Robinson and Jacqueline Robinson, both of Ontario, Canada, were jointly charged with one indictable offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1972.
The charge alleges that on August 15, 2026, the two women imported into Bermuda a controlled drug, namely diamorphine.
As the matter is indictable, neither woman was required to enter a plea during yesterday’s court appearance.
The women were remanded into custody and are scheduled to return to Supreme Court for the October 5th monthly arraignment session at 10am.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and both women are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
