Treatment Court Hold Kite Making Workshop

Last week, participants and staff from the Mental Health Treatment Court, Drug/DUI Treatment Court, and the newly piloted Juvenile Treatment Court Programs hosted their annual Easter Event at the Botanical Gardens under the direction of Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson.

Senior Magistrate,  Maxanne Anderson said, “The goal of the Treatment Courts is to provide in-depth, holistic support to those individuals whose mental health and substance use have influenced their offending behaviour as an alternative to incarceration. As such, each Court aims to reduce participant recidivism, protect the safety and well-being of the community, and provide an integrated continuum of care, supervision, treatment, and stabilisation.

“The Treatment Court Easter Event consisted of traditional kite making, fish cakes, hot cross buns, and camaraderie, emphasising developing pro-social and communication skills, engaging in culturally appropriate activities, and increasing community involvement. We wish to  thank all sponsors and persons who contributed to making this a successful event for all who attended.”
