Travel Authorization Problems Almost Prevented Game Show Winner from Arriving in Bermuda

A couple of months ago, a young lady from California who chooses not to identify herself as she doesn’t want negative attention to herself won a trip to Bermuda on the popular game show “Let’s Make A Deal,” and arrived on the island earlier today.

She was planning on enjoying the trip with one of her best friends, but due to the Coronavirus restrictions in place for travellers arriving to the island, her friend could not join her and she had to come here by herself.

She spoke with TNN’s Trevor Lindsay about the restrictions that are in place.

“ I believe that if people are vaccinated against the Coronavirus, then they should be [free to move around as they please], but I do not live here, so I don’t understand the daily struggles that people may go through on this island,” she said.

The young lady, who happens to be a schoolteacher, has received both doses of the Coronavirus vaccine and thinks that getting vaccinated is important. Even though the process after arriving at Bermuda’s airport was a breeze for her, the travel authorization process was harder and quite nerve wracking.

“ I did not get authorized until last night and my flight was last night,” she said. “I tried to call the island’s health department last night and the system kept crashing and I was on hold for hours. I almost did not come, because I was not authorized . . . but, I am here now, so I will try my best to relax and enjoy my stay.”

“ My advice to authorities is work out the system for getting authorization so people traveling to Bermuda won’t get last minute notification that causes to much anxiety.”
