At approximately 1:45 p.m. this afternoon, a serious accident occurred in the Paget area, just outside the Ice Queen and Paget Pharmacy.
A trash truck reportedly crashed through a wall while traveling eastbound, leaving three workers trapped inside the cab.
Emergency services responded swiftly. Three ambulances were dispatched from King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, while Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service, police, and EMTs worked together to safely extract the trapped occupants from the heavily damaged vehicle.
Authorities quickly implemented traffic diversions affecting those traveling into and out of Hamilton. According to officials on the scene:
- Eastbound traffic heading into Hamilton is being routed through Middle Road
- All outbound traffic leaving Hamilton must divert to Harbour Road
TNN News understands that the three injured workers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A major investigation into the circumstances of the crash is now underway.
