Transport Ministry Predicts One Million Visitors for 2025/26 Season

Transport Ministry Predicts One Million Visitors for 2025/26 Season Last night, the  Taxi Owners & Operations Association held a meeting and invited the Minister of Transport the Honorable Lawrence Scott to air concerns the association have against the Ministry.

The meeting was moderated by Minister of Transport the Honorable
Lawrence Scott, JP, MP. Minister Scott spoke with TNN after the meeting.

“ This meeting was an introduction of a potential concept that the Ministry is looking into, but we are still in the consultation phase,” he said.

“ The transportation projections show that in 2025/26, we can have a possibility of a million-plus arrivals into and out of Bermuda. So, we at the Ministry have to ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place to move that volume of
people.”

According to Minister Scott, Bermuda saw 800,000 visitors in 2019. He projects that in 2024/25, Bermuda will see those same numbers again. New airlines and flights will also be introduced to
the island, which will appeal to a demographic more culturally similar to Bermuda’s.

“ When we combine our air visitors, cruise ship visitors and locals together . . . we anticipate a million arrivals in 2025/26,” he reiterated.

According to the Minister, no value is currently associated with a taxi permit and the Ministry is looking to put the $100,000 value back in and have asked the industry to provide the necessary
documentation in order to provide a more accurate evaluation for the permits.
