Liberty GroupLimited (Liberty) has advised that staff are currently engaged in an audit of enclosures that house Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO) equipmentacross the island.
A video showing a Liberty staff member at a house asking for the location of a BELCO transformer has been shared in a message that is being circulated on social media.
“TNN understands the incident in question took place in October of this year but the video is only now being circulated.”
Liberty President Wayne Caines said: “Liberty are currently engaged in an audit of BELCO’s infrastructureacross the island to ensure it is safe for our customers. I can confirm that the gentleman in the video is part of the team and working under his contract of employment. This is certainly a teachable moment for us with lessons to be learned.
We are currently assessing our protocols and will adjust as necessary to ensure a similar incident doesn’t occur in future.
