BPS UPDATE: The eastbound lane of the Causeway is now open to traffic. Motorists are urged to use caution as the roadway is gradually fully reopened.
Motorists are being urged to expect significant delays this afternoon as traffic in both directions near Long Bird Bridge is currently at a standstill due to a road traffic accident.
While details surrounding the incident remain limited, police have confirmed that accident and crime scene investigators are on site conducting inquiries.
Members of the public traveling east or west are advised to use alternate routes where possible and to exercise patience as authorities carry out their investigations.
Emergency medical services and police officers are responding to a reported three vehicle collision on the Causeway.
Details are limited at this time. However, two of the vehicles involved are understood to be a water truck and a car.
Traffic diversions are in effect on either side of the Causeway and motorists in the area should expect delays, until the scene is processed.
