Following the opening night of the Progressive Labour Party’s (PLP) Delegates Conference, TNN News sent multiple inquiries to the party’s leadership regarding a series of concerning incidents involving party members and government officials — yet, to date, no official responses have been received.
The first inquiry relates to a heated discussion that reportedly occurred during the PLP’s Retirement celebration for Walter Raban at the Cedrabridge Academy back in August, According to sources, the incident involved a member of the PLP organization, and a current Cabinet Minister Owen Darrell with party leader and deputy leader alongside. Witnesses describe the exchange as intense. Despite repeated attempts to obtain clarification, the party has remained silent on the matter.
The second issue under inquiry concerns a traffic accident just days after the general election. A female general election candidate for the PLP driving her vehicle collided with a parked vehicle on the opposite side of the road on Court Street, after which the damaged car was removed by another female believed to be a friend of the person in question had taken the car to a local garage. It is further alleged that a government minister transported the candidate to her East End residence following the crash.
Eyewitnesses claim the driver was under the influence of alcohol, yet the accident was never reported to police. According to information confirmed to TNN by the Bermuda Police Service, no official report has ever been filed.
The total financial cost of both vehicles was in the range of twenty six thousand dollars.
Repeated inquiries to both the Party Leader David Burt and the PLP Chairman Dawn Simmons regarding this alleged cover-up have gone unanswered.
Adding to public concern, new developments have surfaced surrounding the road traffic fatality of Marco Warren. His sister recently released videos showing two vehicles traveling eastbound on the same road at the time of the crash — a taxi and an electric vehicle following closely behind.
The family believes both vehicles may hold key evidence in understanding the events leading to Warren’s death. Yet, court proceedings have since gone quiet, and the family continues to seek answers about what truly happened that night.
As these matters remain unresolved, questions continue to grow:
• What are some members of the Progressive Labour Party possibly concealing?
• Why have inquiries about these incidents gone unanswered?
• And who is responsible for ensuring transparency and accountability within the ranks of government?
