TNN Letter to Governor Seeking Inquiry Leaked Amid Focus on Leadership and Accountability

A letter sent by TNN’s Trevor Lindsay to the Governor His Excellency Andrew Murdoch in November 2025 has resurfaced and is now circulating publicly, seven months after it was originally submitted, the question remains Who “Leaked” the letter as the letter was only sent to the Governor of Bermuda.

The correspondence reportedly requested that the Governor consider an inquiry into what TNN described at the time as a serious matter involving the Commissioner of Police and a family member connected to a former senator of the Progressive Labour Party. According to TNN, the concerns raised in the letter related to information it believed was relevant to a major murder investigation and a murder suspect.

The circulation of the letter comes at a time when TNN has been placing increased emphasis on discussions surrounding leadership, accountability, and the qualities expected of individuals serving in positions of public trust. The timing has sparked renewed public interest in the issues raised within the correspondence and the questions it sought to have examined.

TNN maintains that the matters outlined in the letter warranted official attention and has continued to advocate for transparency and accountability in matters involving public institutions and senior officials.

It should be noted that the letter itself constituted a request for an inquiry and raised concerns for consideration. The circulation of the document does not, in itself, establish the truth of any allegations or claims referenced within it.

For the benefit of the public and in the interest of transparency, TNN has elected to present the letter in its entirety as originally submitted to Governor Andrew Murdoch in November 2025.

The letter appears below in full:

His Excellency Mr. Andrew Murdoch Governor of Bermuda Government House Paget, Bermuda

Your Excellency,

I write to you in your capacity as Governor of Bermuda to formally request an independent investigation into a series of deeply troubling matters involving the Commissioner of Police, his relatives, and the handling of a high-profile murder suspect who was discovered in early July on property believed to be owned by the Commissioner of Police and his family.

As reported to TNN News, and as confirmed through our investigative efforts, a suspect wanted in connection with the May 1st double-murder at Legends Bar in Somerset, in which two individuals were fatally shot and three others injured, was actively sought for approximately two months. On July 4th, this suspect was discovered hiding in a concealed shed on land located in the Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish area—property understood to be owned or jointly associated with the Commissioner of Police and his family.

Please let me declare my interest, my niece was the young woman murdered at Legends Bar in Somerset her name is Jasmin Smith.

Following this discovery, Commissioner of Police Mr. Darrin Simons publicly stated that an internal investigation would be launched to determine how this suspect came to be on the property of one of his relatives. In his written communication to me, he made reference only to “a relative,” though evidence available to TNN News confirms that the property in question belonged to the Commissioner and his family.

To date—despite repeated and formal requests submitted to the Commissioner—no updates or findings have been provided regarding the status or progress of the investigation he claimed had been initiated.

Further, on the same day that TNN News submitted an inquiry via email regarding the possible involvement of Ms. Ariana Hodgson, a known relative of the Commissioner of Police, Ms. Hodgson soon contacted me Trevor Lindsay within minutes of that inquiry being sent. Given that TNN’s communication was directed solely to the Commissioner of Police, it is evident that he disclosed this inquiry to Ms. Hodgson immediately.

Our investigation has also revealed information suggesting that Ms. Hodgson has associations with individuals currently being investigated by police, and that she may have had a role in enabling the suspect’s presence on the Cottage Hill property. At the time of these events, Ms. Hodgson was an affiliated with the governing party.

These circumstances raise serious concerns regarding:

1. Possible interference with a criminal investigation,
2. Potential conflicts of interest and breaches of confidential information,
3. The integrity of the Bermuda Police Service’s handling of a suspect in a major homicide case, and
4. Possible gang affiliations or associations involving Ms. Ariana Hodgson, which may have impacted the situation.Given the gravity of the allegations, the severity of the underlying criminal matter, and the apparent absence of transparency or progress from within the Bermuda Police Service, I respectfully request that Your Excellency authorize or direct an independent, impartial investigation into the following:

1. The circumstances under which the May 1st murder suspect was found on property linked to the Commissioner of Police and his family;
2. Whether any actions by Commissioner Darrin Simons impeded or compromised the investigation, including the disclosure of confidential media inquiries to Ms. Ariana Hodgson;
3. Whether Ms. Ariana Hodgson had any involvement in placing, aiding, or sheltering the suspect on the Cottage Hill property;
4. Whether Ms. Hodgson maintains affiliations with individuals sought by the Bermuda Police Service, and whether such affiliations constitute conflicts of interest or pose risks to public trust;
5. Why no investigative updates have been provided despite multiple formal requests by TNN News.It is essential for public confidence in Bermuda’s institutions that this matter be examined openly, independently, and without the influence of those potentially implicated.

I thank Your Excellency for your attention to this pressing matter and remain available to provide any documentation, correspondence, or evidence that may assist in ensuring transparency and accountability.

Respectfully, Trevor A. Lindsay  TNN Bermuda
