There was another road traffic collision this afternoon on Scaur Hill in Sandys. The three-vehicle accident resulted in one male and one female being transported to KEMH.
TNN spoke with a property owner on Scaur Hill, who does not wish to be identified. They said the following:
“ There are several concealed driveways [on Scaur Hill] and people have not learned to slow down yet on this particular corner. Quite often, people are turning in while others are coming around the corner at [high] speed and they then cannot stop. It’s a very difficult situation.”
The source attributes high speed and careless driving, exhibited by both car and bike drivers, as the cause of most road accidents on the island.
“ People have got to slow down and anticipate that people will be turning into and pulling out of blind driveways. They may not see them until it is too late,” they said.
Traffic has been diverted along the Railway Trail and was substantially backed up going into and coming out of Somerset.
