Threatening Behavior, Drugs and Imitation Firearm Seized Police Kept Active Over Christmas Holiday

A total of fifteen people were arrested for variousoffences between 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, and 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Worryingly the majority of those arrested were for driving while impaired.

 

In fact, seven persons were arrested for this offence.

 

The highest breathalysed reading proved to be 172 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The lowest, was 141 milligrams. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

 

There were two people arrested for outstanding warrants.

 

There were three arrests for traffic offences, two of which involved individuals driving while suspended by the courts.

 

One person arrested for possession of a suspected controlled drug as well as possession of a bladed article.

 

One person was arrested for theft, another for attempting to pervert the course of justice and one other for obstruction.

 

OBSTRUCTION ARREST:

Around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, Police responded to a reported disturbance at the premises of Southampton Rangers, Southampton. Upon arrival, a 34-year-old-male attempted to prevent officers from entering the premises. As a result, he was arrested for obstruction. A subsequent search of the subject resulted in the recovery of an imitation firearm.

 

THREATENING BEHAVIOUR:

At 9:10 p.m. on Monday, December 25, officers were dispatched to a reported domestic incident in the Beacon Hill Lane area, Sandys Parish. On arrival, officers engaged the suspect, a 22-year-old-male, who was acting in an aggressive manner and threatening police. The suspect brandished a knife and threatened to stab officers. Additional officers attended the scene and the suspect was subsequently arrested.

 

STOLEN VEHICLE:

Shortly before midnight on Saturday, December 23, officers were on mobile patrol on Middle Town Lane, Pembroke, when they approached two males on a motorcycle. The rider and pillion passenger who were both dressed in all black, jumped off the bike and fled on foot, making good on their escape. Officers were unable to locate the suspects during a search of area. However, the cycle was impounded. A subsequent check revealed that is had previously been reported, stolen.

 

 

SUSPECTED DRUGS SEIZED:

Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, officers were on mobile patrol on Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish, when they observed a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed. Officers signalled for the vehicle to stop but the rider instead sped up before, turning onto the Grotto Bay Hotel property. The rider and pillion passenger then abandoned the bike and made good their escape on foot. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a quantity of suspected controlled drugs believed to be cocaine, cannabis, cannabis resin and heroin.

 

BLADED ARTICLE/SUSPECTED DRUGS SEIZED:

Around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, December 22, officers were on mobile patrol along South Road, Warwick, when they attempted to stop a motorcycle rider following a traffic violation. The rider, a 16-year-old male, refused to stop and attempted to elude the police. The vehicle was subsequently pulled over and the rider was searched. During the search, officers recovered a knife, along with a quantity of suspected controlled drugs, which has been conveyed to the Government Analyst for testing.
