The Queen’s Six Return to Bermuda with Uplifting Concert at St. Theresa’s Cathedral

The rich harmonies of the United Kingdom’s renowned vocal ensemble, The Queen’s Six, filled St. Theresa’s Cathedral tonight as the group delivered the first of two highly anticipated performances on the island.

Ahead of the concert, TNN’s Trevor Lindsay spoke exclusively with Simon Whiteley, bass singer and founding member of the ensemble, who shared the excitement of returning to Bermuda.

“Yes, I sing bass in The Queen’s Six. I’m also a founding member,” Whiteley began. “We’re here to sing two concerts at St. Theresa’s Cathedral—the first one is tonight, and the second is tomorrow night, April 5th, at 8:30 p.m.”

The group’s return was made possible by Amber’s Wings, a local charity spearheaded by Heidi Michelsen, along with longtime collaborators T.J. Armand and Carl Paiva. This marks a reunion of sorts, as The Queen’s Six first visited Bermuda in 2019 under the direction of Armand during his leadership of the Bermuda Festival.

“It’s a huge pleasure to be back,” said Whiteley. “Bermuda is just the most beautiful island. It feels like such a privilege every time we come.”

Known for their royal connections—having performed for the late Queen and regularly singing at St. George’s Chapel within Windsor Castle—The Queen’s Six bring with them not only technical brilliance but also a palpable sense of tradition and elegance.

When asked about singing in the presence of royalty, Whiteley reflected, “It’s a bit like coming to Bermuda—it’s just an enormous privilege. It can be nerve-wracking because of the pressure, but it’s incredibly rewarding.”

Looking ahead to their second concert, Whiteley hinted at a show full of surprises: “We love to make people laugh, tell some jokes, and of course perform some really good music. We’re hoping for a big crowd and can’t wait to meet the audience afterwards.”

While in Bermuda, the group is making time to enjoy the island’s natural beauty—swimming in the ocean, relaxing at the Grotto Bay Hotel, and hopefully visiting Horseshoe Bay before returning to the stage.

With one more night to experience their captivating sound and charismatic presence, Bermuda has a rare opportunity to enjoy world-class vocal talent right in the heart of Hamilton.
