The MOE Celebrates Teachers as the Beating Heart of Education on World Teachers’ Day  

World Teachers’ Day 2022, I want to celebrate all of our teachers who are instrumental in transforming education and the learning experiences of our young people.” said Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, JP, MP.

“As reflected in the words of the late Maya Angelou, ‘I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.’ A teacher’s role and impression on a child’s life are invaluable.”

“Teachers are the engines at the heart of education in Bermuda, without whom it is impossible to provide inclusive and equitable quality education to every learner across the island.”

Minister Rabain added, “The global World Teachers’ Day 2022 theme, ‘the transformation of education begins with teachers,’ could not be more fitting for us here in Bermuda.”

“As we have seen throughout our Education Reform efforts, teachers are ready to evolve education by equipping and transforming learners with the experiences, skills, knowledge, values, and relationships necessary to lead personally and professionally, compete locally, and compete locally and contribute globally.”

“In our classrooms and schools and through Education Reform activities, we witness teachers deploying their talents, leveraging their knowledge, and using their broad-ranging skills to transform education for the benefit of Bermuda’s children. For this, we are incredibly grateful.”

Minister Rabain concluded, “Today, I join Ministerial colleagues, the Department of Education, and Governments worldwide to acknowledge that teachers are the beating heart of education. This World Teachers’ Day, the Government of Bermuda reaffirms its commitment to:

  • Invest in teachers
  • Involve teachers
  • Trust Teachers
  • Respect Teachers

I encourage all young people, parents, guardians, and members of the Bermuda community to take a moment today to acknowledge and thank a special teacher in your life.”
