Tonight, The Daily Hour celebrated a major milestone — its fifth anniversary — with a banquet and award ceremony held at The L.F Wade International Airport. The evening brought together media professionals, supporters, Political Personalities and community members to reflect on the journey so far and to look forward to the future.
Speaking with Trevor Lindsay, The Daily Hour‘s head of business, Jamel Hardtman, shared his thoughts on the evening:
“Trevor, it’s been a journey. A journey that I’m proud of, a journey that I’m excited the community has been a part of, and I’m looking forward to many more years, man.”
A major highlight of the night was a panel discussion featuring some of Bermuda’s prominent media personalities, including Jonathan Howes, Jasmine Patterson, Nikita Robinson, and Trevor Lindsay himself. The discussion was skillfully moderated by legendary Olympian and media personality Hazel Clark.
Hardtman reflected on the panel’s significance:
“Yeah, the panel was awesome. One of the things we’re challenged with in a small community is getting people to understand the importance of local media. I was impressed, but not surprised, with some of the insights shared. It’s my hope that the information discussed empowers our community to support local media even more.”
The evening also featured a moving tribute to Glenn Blakeney, a pioneer and icon in Bermuda’s media landscape.
“Actually, a couple of years ago, I said to Teo, Rajay, and Shawnta that I wanted to honor Glenn,” Hardtman explained. “His contribution to Bermuda’s media space has often been overlooked. We tend, in this community, to give people their flowers long after they’re gone. I wanted him to be recognized now, for all he’s done for the Bermuda media scene.”
As the night came to a close, the spirit of celebration was clear — a community rallying around local journalism, recognizing its champions, and looking forward to what the future holds.
“Happy birthday, The Daily Hour,” Trevor said in closing.
“Thank you, Trevor. Appreciate you, bro. Keep doing what you do, too, man,” Hartman replied.
