Teenager face assault charges in Magistrate Court

An 18 year old Warwick man appeared in Magistrates’ Court charged with unlawful assault.

Nyaunjae Crockwell was charged with unlawfully wounding an  woman and making the following threatening statement, ‘Do you want to die’ while holding a machete to the complaint’s neck.

Mr Crockwell pled not guilty to the two offences.

Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson set bail to the sum of $5000 with a like surety. The defendant is to be fitted for an Electric Monitoring Device (EMD) and is required to have no contact with the complainant and witnesses.

Furthermore, he must follow a 8pm – 7am curfew and report to the Hamilton Police Station on Thursdays and Saturdays between the hours of 8am – 5pm.

Crockwell will return to Magistrates Court for mention and disclosure on July 8th 2024.
