Suspicious Packages Reported Along Bermuda’s Coastline

TNN has received information from reliable sources that multiple packages were spotted along various parts of Bermuda’s coastline.

According to reports from fishermen who were out at sea, several packages were observed floating near the shore.

TNN also understands that members of the public alerted police after discovering suspicious packages along the shoreline in the Bailey’s Bay and Church Bay Area.

When TNN made inquiries to the Bermuda Police Service regarding these reports, a police spokesperson provided the following response:

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is currently investigating the discovery of multiple packages of suspected controlled drugs that have washed ashore along various areas of Bermuda’s coastline.

Recently, the BPS received several reports from members of the public regarding suspicious packages found floating in the water and along the shoreline.

Responding officers from police Community Patrol Officers, the Coast Guard and the Drugs Unit attended the scenes and recovered the packages, which have since been seized and secured as evidence.

Preliminary examination suggests that the contents are consistent with illegal narcotics.

The packages will undergo forensic testing to confirm their composition and origin.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Smith, head of the BPS Drugs Unit, stated, “We are actively investigating how these packages came to be in Bermuda’s waters and whether they are linked to any maritime activity or regional drug trafficking operations. We are liaising with our local and international partners to determine the source and potential destination of these drugs.”

The BPS is urging the public not to touch, move, or open any suspicious packages found on the beach or in the water. Instead, members of the public should immediately contact the BPS at 211 or 295-0011, or report via the BPS Community Reporting Portal. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers Bermuda at 800-8477.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates will be provided as appropriate.
